A portion of Hillcrest Boulevard includes a vertical sag. During heavy storm events the existing storm drain system would become overwhelmed and the excess water would flow over the sidewalk and down the driveway of a home on the downhill side of the street causing flooding and damage. To alleviate the drainage issue, a parallel 24” storm drain system was installed to increase the system capacity beyond the 10-year frequency storm design of the existing system. The improvements include approximately 900 lf of new 24” RCP storm drain pipe, new manholes and a new drain inlet. CSG provided analysis, preparation of design documents and construction support for this $1.0 million project.
CSG was selected by the City to perform pavement rehabilitation design and construction inspection for a major City arterial, Millbrae Avenue, and a residential street, Magnolia Avenue. The project included pavement coring sample testing, surveying, pavement recommendations report, traffic handling plans, ADA curb ramp upgrades, traffic signal repair, and traffic detours. Stakeholder coordination was required with Caltrans Local Assistance for compliance with Federal funding guidelines (an E-76 was obtained for this project), as well as the Caltrans Encroachment Permit Department for coordination with Caltrans design review staff regarding Caltrans owned facilities.
CSG performed complete building plan review for the total renovation of the 188,480 sq. ft. Aloft Hotel (formerly Clarion Hotel) resulting from an ownership change. This 6 level hotel has an occupancy type R-1 with accessory use groups B, A-2 and A-3, and is construction type 1B, fully sprinklered. CSG plan reviewed all aspects of the renovation including the expansion from 253 guestrooms to 271, a new porte corchere, redesign kitchen facilities, and remodeled swimming pool.
