Regnart Road Slope Stabilization

The City of Cupertino selected CSG to perform field inspection, office engineer, and part time resident engineer services for this slope stabilization project. The project entailed stabilization of a failing slope adjacent to a City street and installing drainage improvements. The scope of work involved installation of a retaining wall consisting of 12 soldier pile piers with depths of 35 feet, related horizontal laggings, discharge backdrain pipes, and catch basins with HDPE pipes. Coordination of work to minimize the impacts to the public was one of the major challenges during this project.

CSG provided on- and off-site plan review for multiple new structures that are part of the Apple Campus 2 Development. Plan review included foundation, shell, and tenant improvements for the new structures. CSG’s services also included providing an on-site plan review engineer for 2 days a week during the duration of the project to help expedite reviews, answer code clarification questions, and to attend weekly meetings with the design team, owners and the City. Throughout the project, CSG assisted architects and engineers with code inquiries and clarifications; provided expedited review of RFIs and deferred submittals; and coordinated with City departments to ensure review and approval of submittals.

The total project size was 1.3 million sq. ft. Examples of buildings for which CSG provided review include:

  • Steve Jobs Theater with ground level lobby and below ground 1,000 seat theater
  • A four-story, 410,000 sq. ft. building consisting of office, restaurant and below grade parking.
  • 2 two-story research & development buildings totaling 212,000 sq. ft.
  • A five-story, 304,000 sq. ft. parking structure, data center and energy center
